Yakshagana Bhagavatha Balipa Narayana Bhagavatha passes away

Famous Yakshagana Bhagavatha (singer-cum-director) Balipa Narayan Bhagavatha passed away on Thursday, February 16. He was 84.

Bhagavatha originally hails from Padre village in Kasaragod district. He lived in Nooi near Moodbidri.

He was one of the leading bhagavathas of the Tenku Thittu school of Yakshagana.

He served as the bhagavatha in one of the six Yakshagana troupes of the more-than-a-century-old Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari Dashavatara Yakshagana Mandali.

His son Prasad Bhat Balipa had passed away in April last year
