Yakshagana enthusiasts furious after Patla Sathish Shetty denied chance to perform

Mangaluru: A viral video of renowned Yakshagana Bhagavata Patla Sathish Shetty leaving the Yakshagana venue allegedly after troupe convenor did not allow him to perform has fumed Yakshagana enthusiasts.
The six troupes of Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari Prasaditha Yakshagana Mandali popularly called as Kateel Mela delivered a performance on Friday, November 22.
It is alleged that when Patla Sathish Shetty was denied permission to perform and he can be seen leaving the venue in the video which has now gone viral. A huge furore ensued over the incident with Yakshagana lovers terming it is an insult to the whole Yakshagana community. Some even expressed doubt that Patla Sathish Shetty was being targeted for differences that emerged between the management and troupe members for last two years.
A few troupe members had been expelled for opposing management’s decision of reshuffling artists between the six troupes every year. Patla Sathish Shetty is said to have stood by the expelled artistes at that time.
