Bengaluru: State BJP president BS Yedyurappa is likely to spend one night in a slum in Laxman puri near Gandhi Assembly segment on Saturday to see for himself the conditions the people in the slums live in.

During his stay there, he hopes to interact with slum dwellers and learn of their problems. After his night at the slum, BS Yedyurappa will release a report on slums across the state while being present at the Laxmanpuri slum.

BJP leaders K.S.Eshwarappa, Jagadish Shettar, Shobha Karandlaje, Govinda Karjola, Tippareddy, Papareddy, Tipparaju, Bharathi Shetty and Sampangi will also join their leader and will stay in the slum on Saturday to understand the poverty stricken dwellers.

BJP MP of Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha constituency, P.C. Mohan on Friday said that the party’s intention was not just to learn about the slum condition but also to ensure that they were provided with the basic amenities which they lacked.

BJP general secretary Ravikumar stated that nearly 88 percent of the slums across the state have no access to public toilets and few slums have no water connection. The party has surveyed nearly 2000 slums in the state and has prepared a report on the conditions of the slums and measures to improve their amnesties. He also added that 28 percent of the slums have no streetlights and roads.
