Yellapur: Two killed, one seriously injured in bus-bike collision

Yellapur: Two people were killed and one seriously injured when a bus collided with a motorcycle on National Highway 63 at Bisgod Cross here on Saturday night.
The victims were identified as Kasturi Basavaraj Byadgi (45) and Komala Boviwaddar (12), both residents of Udyamnagar. Basavaraj Hanumantappa Byadgi, who was seriously injured, has been taken to a hospital in Hubballi for further treatment.
The accident occurred when a bus, traveling from Hubballi towards Yellapur, collided with a motorcycle. The bus ran over the two passengers, Kasturi and Komala, who were riding pillion on the motorcycle. Both died instantly as the bus rear tire crushed their heads. The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries to his right arm and leg.
The accident is said to have been caused due to the bus driver’s excessive speed and negligence.
The police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
