As the country fights the second wave of coronavirus, a number of fungal infections have come into the picture. After the black and white fungus, recent cases of yellow fungus are a cause of concern.

The yellow fungus develops by the presence of moulds (a type of fungi) in the environment. A person can feel unnecessary fatigue, rashes, burning sensations on the skin, etc.

The yellow fungus doesn’t start affecting the lungs initially but it invades internal organs of the body and affects the entire functioning.

The main focus should be on preventing the infection.

Reports state that it is like any other infection, it can be severe if not treated early.

Below are the potential causes of the infection.

  • Prolonged use of steroid
  • Contaminated environment
  • Uncontrolled diabetes
  • Unhygienic or dirty surroundings
  • Unhygienic habits
  • Lesser immunity
  • Co-morbidities

Symptoms of the infection include:

  • Disrupted digestion
  • Weight loss or poor metabolism
  • Delayed healing of wounds
  • Slow metabolism, unexplained-unusual weight loss
  • Pus leakage
  • Loss of appetite, malnutrition
  • Scrawny, sunken eyes
  • Lack of energy, lethargy, and fatigue
  • Necrosis (in severe cases)

The most effective way to prevent the infection is to maintain the required level of hygiene during treatment. Keep your surroundings clean.
