Bengaluru: A young engineer washed away in the flooded rajakaluve in Gayathri layout due to the late-night downpour in the city on Friday.
The person has been identified as Mithun (24), a native of Shivamogga who worked in the city as a civil engineer.
Near the midnight hours, the incessant rains had flooded the Gayathri Layout through which a rajakaluve that connects to the Seegehalli lake passes.
A compound wall where the young engineer lived collapsed due to the rushing waters and dragged the man’s bike parked in the compound. Mithun ventured out to save his bike but was washed away by the strong water currents.
The fire department and SDRF were alerted and are currently searching for the missing youth.
