Young Sanskrit poets shine at Vadiraja Yuvakavi Goshthi in Udupi

Udupi: As part of the ongoing All India Oriental Conference, the Vadiraja Yuvakavi Goshthi, a Sanskrit poetry gathering for young poets, was held at Rajangana, Udupi. The event celebrated the legacy of the renowned 16th-century Dvaita philosopher and poet, Sri Vadiraja Tirtha, who, in his youth, authored several influential works, including Rukmnisha Vijaya.
In memory of Sri Vadiraja Tirtha, the Kavi Sammelana brought together 15 budding poets from across India, each showcasing the beauty and versatility of Sanskrit in addressing contemporary themes. The poets recited compositions exploring topics such as women’s safety, the significance of Sanskrit, and other pressing societal issues.
Notable poets at the event included Pankaj Kumar Jha from Jharkhand, Surya Hebbar of Central Sanskrit University (CSU), Shrivarda Malge from Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University (KKSU), Ramtek, and Umamaheshwaran N. from CSU, among others. Their work received enthusiastic responses from the audience, reflecting the vibrancy and relevance of Sanskrit poetry.
Prof. Ramakant Pandey presided over the gathering alongside prominent poets and scholars, including Avadhani Ramakrishna Pejattay and Prof. Parag Joshi from Nagpur. They expressed appreciation for the young poets’ dedication to Sanskrit and encouraged them to continue contributing to India’s literary and cultural heritage.
The event, with its wide array of themes and perspectives, underscored the timeless appeal of Sanskrit as a medium of creative expression, resonating strongly with both the young poets and the audience.
