Youth arrested for circulating video threatening bomb blast

Udupi: Maple police have arrested a youth who had posted a video on social sites threatening to conduct bomb blast on Malpe beach. The arrested youth is identified as Srijan (18), a resident of Thottam near Malpe.
Srijan had circulated a 1 minute 24 seconds video in which, having his face covered with cloth, he threatened to conduct bomb blasts on Malpe beach and also raised pro-Pakistan slogans in Hindi.
The video surfaced on Saturday morning March 2nd and the police switched into action immediately and informed their superiors. A special team was formed under the guidance of district SP Nisha James and additional SP Kumarchandra and the accused was swiftly captured.
The arrest
The police first questioned a person named Anand who is originally from Nepal and runs a shop in the vicinity of Malpe beach. Anand revealed that the video was shot by Srijan, a resident of Thottam in Maple and sent it to him.
The police, immediately visited Srijan’s house and confronted the accused who confessed of his act. The accused works as a shepherd and his father works in a shop selling plastic products.
The towel and mobile phone which the accused used while filming the video has been seized by the police.
