Mangaluru: The district police have arrested a youth for possession and selling of ganja on Monday. The accused was caught red-handed while he was attempting to seen the narcotic near B Mooda Village in Bantwal.
The accused is identified as Shamsuddin Aboobakker (25), a resident of Kukkaje. The police also seized 1.8 kg ganja valued at Rs 40,000, Rs 110 in cash and a cellphone from him.
Based on credible information, a team of Bantwal cops led by ASI Chandrashekhar H V raided the place near Durga Garage, B Mooda Village, and seized the weed in his possession. Apparently, the accused had procured ganja from Misbah from Ullal and another person from Uppinangady, informs the police.
A case under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Bantwal police station.
