Youth arrested for sexual assault on nursing student

Puttur: A youth from Bantwal, who was absconding after sexually assaulting a college student at her hostel in Mysuru, has been arrested by Uppinangadi police on Friday, August 10th.
The arrested has been identified as Mohammed Althaf (23), a resident of Nellipalike in Maninalkur village in Bantwal.
According to the available information, Althaf had entered the ladies hostel of K R Hospital in Mysuru and molested a nursing student on July 20th. The accused had gained entry to the hostel after threatening the security guard.
The accused had sexually assaulted the student and managed to flee from the spot. However, the CCTV cameras had captured the image of Althaf. He was also accused of stealing the ladies garments from the hostel.
A huge protest was held in reaction to this incident and the students had left the hostel in protest. The local associations too had pressurized the police to nab the culprit.
Uppinangadi police team led by SI Nanda Kumar had sought report from Devaraj police station in Mysuru. The police team finally managed to arrest Althaf when he was working as a daily wage worker in a farm in Belthangady.
