Youth arrested for trying to fly with someone else’s passport

Mangaluru: A youth from Kerala, who was trying to travel abroad by using a passport held in another person’s name was caught by the immigration officials at Mangaluru International Airport and handed over to Bajpe police station on Thursday, May 24th.
The arrested young man has been identified as Santosh (30) a resident of Bailangady Perumbale near Kasaragod.
On the night of Thursday at 9pm, Santosh had arrived at the airport at Bajpe here to fly to Dubai. As the immigration officials were carrying out the verification of documents, they found out that Santosha was trying to travel by using a passport standing in the name of a person named Tamban. They immediately took Santosh into custody and turned him over to Bajpe police for further investigation.
Santosh had previously travelled from his work place in Dubai to his native place eight months back by using this passport. During interrogation, Santosh claimed that the said passport was provided to him by Abdulla and Hanif, who function as passport agents in Kasargod.
Tamban, who is guilty of providing his passport for someone else, would also be arrested and his role in this illegal act would be probed, informed the police. Santosh has been remanded to 15 days of judicial custody.
