Belthangady: An innocent youth was attacked with lethal weapons by two men with criminal background near Rekhya in the Taluk on Tuesday, February 25.
The injured is identified as Girish Gowda (25), resident of Kelenjkody in Rekhya village,
As per reports, a group of youth was taking bath in Gundia brook near Kedambala in the Rekhya village. Two drunk men, Vishwanath KS alias Chaddi Bala and Ramesh Achary, residents of Katte in Rekhya came there and started to vandalize the area.
Girish Gowda stepped forward to stop them. However, they attacked him with lethal weapons and also gave a death threat. Girish was severely injured in the incident and is being treated in Belthangady Hospital.
Reportedly, Vishwanath KS was jailed twice in the past for stealing diesel from vehicles at night and attempt to rape women. it is said that he is out on bail. Ramesh Achary is facing allegations of smuggling timber from the forest. All the cases are under investigation.
A case is registered in Dharmastala Police station.
