Youth attacked by Congress councillor

Udupi: Congress councilor from here allegedly assaulted youths here on Sunday.

The victims have been identified as Ganesh Acharya and Pranesh Acharya.

It has been learnt that Ganesh Acharya had earlier requested the Municipal Authorities not to cut down the trees in his property. But the Municipal authority

had chopped off all trees without his permission, post which Ganesh and Pranesh questioned the municipality member Ramesh Poojary.

Poojary and his friends later picked up a fight with the two and attacked them with weapons.

Ganesh Acharya has been admitted to the Government Hospital Udupi.

Police have registered a case againt the Congress councillor Ramesh Poojary and others in the Udupi Town Police station.
