Youth kidnapped, brutally attacked, cash robbed

Mangaluru: A gang of five members reportedly kidnapped a youth from Falnir, took him to Sasihitlu, trashed him there and robbed cash found on his person on Wednesday Dec 5th.

The victim is identified as Shimaaq Hassan (22) pursuing BBM at a college in the city and in his complaint to the police has identified his tormentors as Gautam, Loy Veigas, Gautam, Ankit, and Aditya Walke.

On Dec 5th, Shimaaq was having coffee with his friends at an outlet at Attavar at 5pm, when his classmate Ankit arrived to the spot on his motorcycle and asked Shimaaq to accompany him with the excuse that he had some work with him.

As Shimaaq failed to return even after half-an-hour, his friends attempted to call him on his cellphone. Initially Shimaaq not receive the call. However, when an effort was made to contact him by using another cellphone, the kidnappers informed that they were taking Shimaaq to Moodbidri.

After sometime, the kidnappers called Shimaaq’s friends and demanded a ransom of Rs 50,000 for his release. A few hours later, they again made a call, threatening to kill the young man.

It is said that immediately after money as demanded was handed over to the miscreants near KPT here, they pushed Shimaaq from a Maruti Swift car and made good their escape.

Later it was found that Shimaaq had been brutally beaten by his kidnappers in his face, head and back with iron rod. The sadists had even inflicted burn injuries on his body with cigarette butts.His back was also badly bruised. The injured Shimaaq remains admitted into Wenlock Hospital here.

Pandeshwar police have registered a case in this connection and are on the lookout for the miscreants. The police have till now seized the Swift car used for the kidnap and iron rods used in the assault.
