Youth shot dead by bike-borne assailants

Ghazipur (UP): A youth was shot dead and his aunt injured when some unidentified assailants opened fire at them in Bahriabad locality in Chandwak area here, police said today.

The incident took place late yesterday evening when Sunil (30) was on his way to attend a marriage function along with his brother Manish, Suraj and aunt Shanti Devi (50) on separate motorcycles, they said.

A group of bike-borne youth tried to snatch the gold chain of Manish. When Sunil tried to stop them, they opened fire killing Sunil on the spot and injuring Shanti Devi, who was rushed to hospital, where her condition was stated to be serious, they added.

Police is probing the matter.
