Iran: ‘Zombie’ Angelina Jolie sentenced to 10 years in jail

Sahar Tabar, 19-year-old Instagram star who gained popularity after posting various distorted pictures of herself bearing an uncanny resemblance to Hollywood star Angelina Jolie has been sentenced to 10 years jail.

Sabar, whose real name is Fatemeh Khishvand. She gained around 500,000 followers after posting images of her face after cosmetic surgeries which resembled a spooky Angelina Jolie and was dubbed as ‘ Zombie Angelina Jolie’.

In October 2019, She was charged with blasphemy and inciting violence. She was cleared of those charges and the Iranian state Tv broadcast her confession in late October last year. Her lawyers confirmed that she has now been sentenced to ten years in jail. The Guardian reported that she was charged with ‘corruption of young people and disrespect for the Islamic Republic.’

There have been rumors of Sabar undergoing 50 cosmetic surgeries to look like the Hollywood actress. Sabar considered herself to be one of the biggest fans of Angelina Jolie and claimed to ” do anything” to look like her.

The Guardian also reported that the medical records suggested she had a mental illness and had a history of frequent visits to psychiatric hospitals.

Iranian Journalist and Activist, Masih Alinejad tweeted, ” Her joke landed her in jail”
